It’s Go Time

You have a pile of essays to write.

But how do you make them communicate who you are and what matters most to you?

That’s where I come in.

Let’s figure out your story, what you want to say, and how best to say it, together.

ABOUT ME

Hi, I’m Connie. I’m an award-winning writer of journalism and fiction; a longtime resident of the Mar Vista neighborhood of West Los Angeles; and the mother of three young adults. I love working with words. And I love helping young people find the words that express who they are inside.

  • “Before I met you, applying to college felt overwhelming, unmanageable, and overall, dreadful. But I left our very first meeting feeling excited to continue. This is because you welcomed me so warmly, listened fully, and, most of all, believed in me.”

Sammie Wittenberg, age 17, West LA

  • "I have deep appreciation for you, your time & your patience in helping my son. Thank you, thank you!!

    Melissa Lane, Culver City

  • "We are very grateful for your help and care. The time you spent with Sam has been invaluable for him."

  • "I'm incredibly grateful for all the help and guidance you've given me. I've really enjoyed working with you and my essays have turned out great because of our work."

Process

I like to start with students no earlier than the spring of their junior year. We begin with conversations: who are you? What do you like? Dislike? How do you spend your free time?

What makes you tick?

The answers to these questions are the foundations of our work. From there, we build with words: outlines, then freewrites, then drafts, then targeted revisions. In the process, you’ll find your voice, and write the essays only you could write, that reflect the person you’ve been, and are becoming.
